Here are our top ten tips to help you enjoy your stay in La Tzoumaz:
1. The office for lift passes is about 200 metres from the chalet, so it's easy enough to get them on your first day skiing.
2.
Speak to us about which lift pass is best for you. Passes for different
regions in the 4 Valleys can be bought. For example, there is no point
buying a full 4 Valleys pass if you are a beginner!
3. There
are three ski hire shops in La Tzoumaz (less than 5 minutes walk from
the chalets), so it's easy to sort ski hire out in resort. Again we can
help with pre-booking if you need.
4. Try the toboggan/luge run
from the top of the mountain into La Tzoumaz, its great for adults and
children and makes a welcome break from skiing for an afternoon.
5.
Make a visit to the thermal baths at Saillon (about 20 minute drive
from the chalets), there are 4 hot pools and several saunas and steam
rooms a great way to relax after a days skiing.
6. Try a
couple of the restaurants in the Village, Caf La Tzoumaz (at the
entrance to the Village) has fantastic local specialities including
meat fondues.
7. Hire a ski guide for a day, we can arrange this
for you and they can accommodate all levels and help you find your way
around the area much quicker (works out very cheap if several of you
split the cost).
8. If you have booked our serviced package but
fancy our team to cook you the odd meal during the week then this can
be arranged a few weeks in advance to arrival.
9. If you are
serviced and want to do a shop for the week, its worth going to one of
the larger supermarkets at the bottom of the mountain, such as CoOp or
Carrefour which are both located in Conthey (about 20 minutes drive
from the chalet). There is a smaller supermarket in the village, which
is good for fresh bread, croissants and meat, and is well stocked for
most other things you will need for your holiday.
10. If you are
hiring a car, it is easier to get to and from the airport from the
Swiss side of the airport (not the French side which is a real hassle).
Although in the past car hire was cheaper on the French side of the
airport, in recent years we have found the costs to be comparable,
particularly when using sites such as www.travelsupermarket.com to find the best deals.
